Welcome to Newark's Ironbound Reading Club! If you're wondering whether to join, here are some basic questions to ask yourself: Do you live and/or work in the Newark-area? Like to read books? Want a consistent forum where to discuss the books you're reading all while you make new friends? If you answered "yes" to at least 2 out the 3 questions, then you must stop by at one of our meetups. Come check us out! You'll be glad you did. We aim to read different genres: fiction, non-fiction, memoirs, …

Ever feel that there must be something new and interesting in the art scene in New York City? That there must be people who showed up for something more than the free wine and cheese? ARTS UP NOW! is for people to list the new, the unusual, the offbeat, the undiscovered and who also might not object to a little free wine. Experimental art is all will and good, but let's focus in on the -successful- experiments and share, share share.
At least once a month, we vote on a graphic novel or trade paperback to read. Then we get together to discuss. It's just like a book club, but with comics!
From time to time, we'll also have other comic-related events to attend - movies, conventions, and anything else you can think of that might appeal to fans of sequential art.
If you're on Facebook, you can join in the group discussion here:

Not all creative people are looking for criticism. Some just want inspiration, friends, and the chance to be creative with others who just get it. While originally a writers' group, this group is going to tour great coffee houses, where members will have the opportunity to do art or writing alongside each other. We'll be each others' cheerleaders on our journey, whether that be writing your memoir, standing in front of a microphone reading a poem or singing out loud, or just having friends to …
